The Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Healthcare Academy in Abu Dhabi has successfully trained over 3,750 healthcare professionals since its launch. These participants have engaged in various training programs and courses aimed at enhancing their AI skills and improving their proficiency with advanced AI technologies in the healthcare sector.

This initiative is a collaboration between the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) and the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed during the Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week in May 2024. The Academy’s primary goal is to position the Emirate as a leading destination for healthcare and life sciences by promoting technology-enabled and data-driven healthcare systems.
The AI Healthcare Academy is set to produce a highly skilled workforce trained in AI, which will enhance diagnostic and operational efficiency, ultimately benefiting the health and wellbeing of the community. Participants are exposed to training sessions on crucial topics, including AI applications in radiology, cardiology, and advanced data analytics and prediction techniques. The educational offerings cater to both senior executives and operational staff within the healthcare ecosystem.
Dr. Rashed Alsuwaidi, Acting Director General of Healthcare Regulatory at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, expressed pride in the collaboration with MBZUAI, highlighting the initiative’s role in empowering healthcare professionals. He stated that the Academy is essential for enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services in Abu Dhabi. By equipping the workforce with cutting-edge AI technologies, the Academy aims to advance diagnostics and personalized medical management, ensuring that healthcare professionals are well-informed about developments in this fast-evolving sector.
Sultan Al Hajji, Vice President of Public Affairs and Alumni Relations at MBZUAI, emphasized the commitment to delivering smarter, patient-centered care through this collaboration. He noted that the Academy supports Abu Dhabi’s vision of developing a pioneering healthcare ecosystem where AI-driven insights significantly improve patient outcomes and health management. This partnership not only enhances local healthcare capabilities but also positions Abu Dhabi as a global leader in AI-powered health innovation, setting new standards for the future of healthcare.
