The UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) and Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining have formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation. This agreement was made during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, marking a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations in the energy sector. The memorandum was signed by Nawal Al Hanaee, the Director of the Future Energy Department at MoEI, and Christian Nieves Lauz, the National Energy Director of Uruguay’s Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining.

This new partnership aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and expertise between the two countries. It includes plans for high-level discussion meetings and workshops focusing on various energy-related topics. Nawal Al Hanaee highlighted that these collaborative efforts are essential for progressing towards clean and renewable energy solutions, thus broadening opportunities for growth and development in both nations.

Al Hanaee further noted that the memorandum signifies a mutual commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that benefit both countries. It establishes a cooperative framework aimed at supporting key sectors such as clean energy and climate action, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in addressing global energy challenges.
