Abu Dhabi’s Al Qou’a Dairy Products Plant, run by the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), has achieved a significant milestone by producing 276,420 kilograms of labneh since its launch in September 2023. This facility is the first of its kind in the region to be fully operated by People of Determination.
The plant, located at Al Qou’a Centre, reflects the UAE’s commitment to integrating People of Determination into the workforce. It provides specialised career opportunities, helping workers enhance their skills while contributing to the local economy. The initiative aligns with the UAE’s national policy to ensure full inclusion of People of Determination in all areas of life.
Currently, six employees, who have received extensive training, oversee operations at the plant. The supportive work environment helps them grow professionally while fostering community engagement.
Speaking to WAM, Subha Al Darai, Director of the Al Qou’a Care and Rehabilitation Centre, highlighted the plant’s role in promoting local entrepreneurship and strengthening the economy. She added that the facility encourages nearby farmers and ranchers to supply milk, boosting sustainable development in the region.
Looking ahead, the plant plans to expand its operations by producing cheese from camel milk, further aligning with the UAE’s vision for sustainability. The plant is also part of the broader “Made in UAE” initiative, which aims to enhance local production, support the industrial sector, and diversify the economy.
