The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) has signed a strategic agreement with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) to strengthen collaboration in cultural and intellectual fields. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed during the ‘Arabian Days’ Festival, focuses on fostering youth participation in cultural activities and promoting Arabic content development.
Under the deal, MBRF will provide training programmes, developed with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to enhance the skills of ALC members. The partnership also prioritises translation efforts, with Emirati graduates of MBRF’s Translation Programme contributing to ALC’s Kalima Translation Project.
The two organisations will also work together to nominate participants from MBRF’s creative content programmes for ALC’s literary awards and research grants. Additionally, the collaboration includes offering services like translation, design, and publishing in both print and digital formats, adhering to global quality standards.
Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of ALC, called the partnership a “significant milestone” in opening new pathways for youth development and enriching the cultural landscape. For his part, Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, highlighted the importance of empowering individuals and fostering knowledge pathways through initiatives like this.
The agreement will allow both entities to showcase their initiatives at each other’s events, including book fairs, festivals, and the International Congress of Arabic Publishing. The collaboration also aims to enhance Arabic content on MBRF’s Digital Knowledge Hub and includes a joint initiative called ‘Knowledge Break’, featuring talks hosted by Abu Dhabi.
This partnership further strengthens initiatives like Bel Arabi and Youth Knowledge Forum, which focus on empowering Emirati and Arab youth while promoting the Arabic language as a tool for intellectual and cultural communication.
