The Boeing 777 freighter will handle approximately 85 tonnes of cargo, catering to demand from Denmark, as well as neighboring countries like Norway and Sweden. Previously, these regions were served by Emirates’ passenger flights.

This move comes as Emirates SkyCargo witnessed over a 20% rise in cargo volumes from Denmark in the last financial year, driven mainly by pharmaceutical exports. Copenhagen, with its strong life sciences industry and advanced cold chain logistics, plays a key role as a pharma hub in Northern Europe. The additional capacity will further enhance the export of temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products.

Beyond pharmaceuticals, Emirates SkyCargo will also support the transport of other goods, including seafood and general cargo, ensuring efficient and reliable delivery across its global network.

Mette Jensen, Emirates SkyCargo’s Cargo Manager for Scandinavia, told Al Khaleej that demand for cargo services in Scandinavia, particularly in Copenhagen, has been robust and is expected to grow further in the coming years. She highlighted that the new service will help customers expand into more international markets.

With 37 dedicated freighter flights to 11 European destinations and over 485 passenger flights weekly, Europe remains a key region for Emirates SkyCargo. The addition of Copenhagen strengthens its position in the Scandinavian market and supports the growing demand for cargo solutions in the region.
