The Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (AP EDB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UAE Food Cluster, aiming to strengthen investments in the food processing sector of Andhra Pradesh. This agreement, formalized in the presence of key officials including Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, is a fulfillment of commitments made at the recent World Economic Forum in Davos.
The MoU focuses on facilitating the significant export of horticultural goods from Andhra Pradesh to international markets while attracting investments from UAE-based companies in local food processing and associated industries. A notable initial commitment under this partnership comes from Dubai’s Flour Masters International, which plans to invest Rs 100 crore in establishing a food processing unit in Chittoor district, with the objective of producing high-quality food products for global export.
Chief Minister Naidu emphasized the UAE’s swift action in realizing investment opportunities discussed at the Davos summit, stating that the UAE Food Cluster initiative would enhance Andhra Pradesh’s position as a hub for food processing and international trade. The Chief Minister highlighted the state’s diverse agricultural output and the strong contributions of agriculture and horticulture to its economy, with ongoing projects aimed at transforming the region into a leading horticulture center through extensive investments.
The UAE Minister reiterated the potential of Andhra Pradesh’s agricultural sector, praising its unique geographic advantages and the government’s investor-friendly policies. Plans for developing a Food Park Cluster in the state were also outlined, aiming to bolster modern food processing capabilities and establish essential logistics. This initiative is expected to significantly boost the bilateral trade relations between Andhra Pradesh and the UAE, particularly in areas like seafood and horticultural exports. The state’s strategic logistics infrastructure is poised to complement these efforts, enhancing its appeal as a major export hub.
