The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken a significant step towards bolstering its food processing and export capabilities by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (AP). This partnership, initially discussed at the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, aims to establish a robust food cluster in the UAE, promoting investment opportunities within AP’s horticulture sector.
As part of this initiative, Flour Masters International, a Dubai-based company, will invest approximately Rs 100 crore to set up a food processing facility in Chittoor. This new unit is expected to enhance the processing of horticultural products, thereby providing local farmers with better access to international markets and improving the overall value chain in the agriculture sector.
This collaboration is not only a win for both regions but also aligns with the UAE’s broader strategic goals of food security and economic diversification. By investing in food processing, the UAE aims to decrease its reliance on imports while simultaneously fostering sustainable agricultural practices in its partner regions. The development is significant for the Gulf market, where food security remains a pressing issue.
