Punjab is making significant strides in the textile and apparel sector, with its Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, announcing that the state accounted for nearly 4% of India’s textile exports. In the fiscal year 2024-25, these shipments totaled over $1.2 billion, showcasing the strong demand for Punjabi products in various international markets, including the US, UAE, and UK.
The CM emphasized that the growing export numbers reflect the confidence global buyers have in Punjab’s manufacturing capabilities. This endorsement not only positions Punjab as a key player in the textiles industry but also highlights Mohali’s potential as a burgeoning technology and innovation hub, often referred to as India’s second Silicon Valley.
As Mohali continues to develop its infrastructure and workforce, the implications for investment in the region are considerable. With the state’s commitment to enhancing its manufacturing landscape and encouraging tech startups, it could very well attract both domestic and international investors looking to capitalize on the emerging opportunities within the textile and technology sectors.
