Sharjah Introduces ‘Instant License’ to Streamline Business Setup for Entrepreneurs

The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) has introduced a new service known as the “Instant License,” which is aimed at simplifying the process for entrepreneurs looking to establish their businesses in the emirate. With this innovative service, investors can now receive a commercial license within a single working day, eliminating the need to submit a Memorandum of Association or a signed lease contract during the first year.

The Instant License initiative has received approval from the Sharjah Executive Council and is designed to enhance the business launch process. By allowing investors to start operations immediately, the service significantly reduces paperwork and waiting times, thus supporting Sharjah’s objective of fostering a more dynamic and competitive economic landscape.

This license specifically targets office-based businesses that do not require additional approvals from other government entities, permitting up to three employees under each license. Following the first year, businesses will be required to meet the regular licensing criteria to continue their operations.

SEDD emphasizes that the Instant License will help diminish unlicensed business activities by providing a quick and legal alternative. This initiative is particularly beneficial for new investors and those looking to expand, especially in sectors that align with Sharjah’s strategic objectives.

Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD, stated that the department is committed to creating a supportive and flexible regulatory environment that fosters long-term growth and stability. He pointed out that this initiative aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, as well as the ongoing efforts of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.

Al Mahmoud remarked, “This service reflects Sharjah’s commitment to making business easier and more accessible.” He emphasized the aim to attract investors, support entrepreneurs, and ensure that Sharjah continues to be a leading destination for economic development both regionally and globally.
