Abu Dhabi has introduced the Middle East’s first-ever Personalized Weight Management Programme, aiming to combat lifestyle diseases in the region. This initiative, launched by the Department of Health and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, emphasizes long-term health and wellness rather than just short-term weight loss.

The programme combines health screenings, individual coaching, and digital tracking through the Sahatna app to create a comprehensive support system focusing on sustainable health improvements. It is designed for individuals aged 18 and older who hold Thiqa insurance and are classified as overweight or obese according to medical standards.
Once enrolled, participants will undergo an initial health screening, followed by personalized coaching from wellness professionals. They will receive customized diet and exercise plans based on their fitness levels and health objectives. The programme also includes structured activity tracking via the Sahatna app, real-time feedback to optimize progress, and regular medical check-ins to ensure participants stay on track.
Abu Dhabi’s initiative addresses the rising incidence of lifestyle-related diseases in the region, offering a timely and innovative solution. Authorities aspire for this programme to set a benchmark for other cities facing similar health issues, with a focus on empowering individuals through expert support and digital tools for improved health outcomes.
