The initiative will compensate for approximately 5,610 kg of CO2 emissions generated annually by the hotel’s 13 Canon printers, which handle around 430,530 print volumes. Through this program, the luxury hotel will offset the environmental consequences of its use of ink, paper, and electricity by investing in certified climate projects worldwide.

Savino Leone, General Manager of Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, emphasized the hotel’s responsibility as a luxury hospitality leader to minimize its environmental footprint. He noted that collaborating with Canon enables operational excellence while fostering significant climate action, marking a vital step in their sustainability journey.

The project adopts a comprehensive approach to enhance sustainable print operations, starting with a thorough print and scan audit to identify opportunities for optimization across the hotel’s Canon printer fleet. By introducing more efficient print devices and processes, the hotel aims to substantially reduce both energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Khaled Antoun, B2B Regional Sales Director at Canon Middle East, expressed excitement about welcoming Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers into the Climate Project Contribution program. He stated that this partnership illustrates how the hospitality sector can adopt innovative solutions to tackle environmental challenges, reflecting Canon’s corporate philosophy of Kyosei, which focuses on living and working together for the common good.

The climate compensation projects supported by this initiative cover various continents and include wind energy projects in India and Indonesia, cookstove initiatives in Uganda to combat deforestation, and reforestation efforts in Germany, South America, England, and Switzerland. All projects are certified by Gold Standard, an internationally recognized verification body, with independent authentication provided by Climate Partner to ensure credibility and transparency.

Canon is also committed to assisting Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers in reducing its carbon footprint through low-carbon products and smart technologies like uniFLOW. These tools help minimize unnecessary printing, monitor device usage, and decrease waste, further advancing the hotel’s sustainability goals.
